Le 23 avril 2015 a été annoncé les gagnants de la huitième édition de la plus grande compétition de photographie du monde, Les Sony World Photography Awards. Gratuit, ce concours est ouvert à tous les photographes du monde entier, qu’ils soient amateurs ou professionnels. Composé de plusieurs catégories telles qu’Architecture, Paysage ou encore Actualités, les heureux gagnants de ce concours sont exposés à la Somerset House de Londres du 24 avril au 10 mai lors de l’exposition SWPA 2015 et reçoivent 30 000$ d’équipements numériques Sony.

L’édition 2015 a recueilli plus de 173 444 photographies de 171 pays du monde entier. Le prix le plus reconnu de la compétition, l’Iris d’Or qui couronne le meilleur photographe professionnel a été remis à John Moore pour sa série touchante sur la crise de l’Ebola dans la capital Libérienne.
